Job Summary

The Assistant Professor in OTAT will deliver advanced theoretical instruction, lead perioperative clinical training, and drive departmental research. Working closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing leads in the teaching hospital, the candidate will train undergraduate and postgraduate students in OT setup, anesthesia workstations, critical care monitoring, and AI-driven intraoperative diagnostics.

Academic Qualifications & Statutory Eligibility

• Educational Qualification: M.Sc in Operation Theatre & Anesthesia Technology (or M.Sc in Medical Lab/Allied Health Technology with OTAT specialization) from a recognized university.

• Academic Record: First-Class degree or equivalent academic standing throughout undergraduate (B.Sc OTAT) and postgraduate studies.

• Experience: 0 to 3+ years of teaching or clinical experience in a recognized teaching hospital or academic institution. Fresh M.Sc graduates with strong clinical acumen are eligible.

• Compliance: Must fulfill the statutory norms prescribed by The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University and National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP).

Key Responsibilities

1. Academic Leadership & Clinical Instruction

• Design and deliver lectures, advanced practical modules, and clinical case presentations in anesthesia workstation management, surgical instrumentation, and perioperative monitoring.

• Supervise OTAT students during live surgical rotations, ensuring strict adherence to sterility, infection control, and patient safety protocols.

• Conduct continuous internal evaluations, curriculum mapping, practical exams, and university viva-voce assessments.

2. AI & Smart OT Integration (The JKKN Imperative)

• Train students in utilizing AI-assisted telemetry, automated patient monitoring systems, predictive anesthesia dosing software, and digital health records (EMR).

• Integrate virtual simulation tools, digital twins of OT equipment, and 3D intraoperative visualization into classroom teaching.

• Mentor student teams in bio-convergence initiatives, medical technology hackathons, and interdisciplinary research.

3. Research & Administrative Governance

• Conduct and publish original research in anesthesia technology, surgical safety, or medical devices in peer-reviewed journals.

• Manage departmental logistics, equipment calibration schedules, and safety audits within the teaching surgical suites.

• Participate in institutional committees, accreditation processes (NAAC/NBA), and faculty development programs.
