Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to join the Department of Pedagogy History as an Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the field of pedagogy history, conducting research in the area of education, and contributing to the college's commitment to innovation and excellence. The Assistant Professor will also be responsible for advising students, participating in departmental and college committees, and collaborating with faculty on initiatives that advance the college's mission and vision.
Qualifications
A PhD in Education or a related field with a specialization in Pedagogy History. A strong commitment to teaching and a record of excellence in the classroom. An established research record in the field of education and pedagogy history. Evidence of strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse community of students, faculty, and staff. A commitment to promoting equity and inclusion in the educational setting. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
Responsibilities
Teaching: Design and deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in the field of pedagogy history and related areas, including preparing course materials, lectures, and assessments. Research: Conduct research in the field of pedagogy history and related areas, publish articles in academic journals, present research at conferences, and pursue external funding opportunities. Advising: Provide academic advising and mentorship to students, including guidance on course selection, research projects, and career development. Service: Participate in departmental and college committees, contribute to the development and implementation of departmental and college initiatives, and engage in service to the profession. Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues on research projects, grant proposals, and other initiatives, and participate in interdisciplinary projects and initiatives. Professional Development: Maintain currency in the field through professional development activities, such as attending conferences, workshops, and professional meetings. Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development and revision of the department's curriculum, including the creation of new courses and the redesign of existing courses. Assessment: Participate in program and course assessments and use assessment data to inform teaching and course improvement. Outreach: Engage in outreach activities to promote the department, the college, and the field of pedagogy history, such as hosting events and workshops, participating in community organizations, and serving as a resource for media and the public.
